TEACHER-STUDENT PORTFOLIO
Sharon McKittrick Boyle & Shelby Patton
Sharon McKittrick Boyle,
Teacher
As an artist, I know drawing
requires a different way of seeing. I know that composition is
the most important concept. I
also know you can do this, too.
As a teacher, I believe everyone
can draw and learn to see in this creative way. I love to
make art with different materials every day, and I learn
something new with each project. I am a living example
to my students of a person who is a success in the arts.
I say to them “You can spend your life doing something
you love. I believe we all
can.”
Shelby Patton, Student
My responsibility as an art student
is to take expectations and stan-
dards and surpass them. Every piece
of art I create comes from the heart
and holds a deeper meaning from
what the viewer’s eye catches at
first glance. Something I love about
art is that everyone has a different
opinion and makes their own conclusions from a piece of
work. I like to create my art to be a mystery that doesn’t
result in one answer, and each viewer goes on a jour-
ney to figure out how they
connect with the art. Each
connection is relevant and
entirely valid.
Shelby Patton is a junior at
