As an artist and a teacher,
to the world, hoping to leave
them with new eyes long after they leave my classroom.
Oil is my favorite medium, though I am trained in
watercolor, pen and ink, and acrylic. I love teaching
printmaking, pottery, and sculpture along with the fundamentals of art. When time permits, I love to paint en
plein air, but often I find myself painting in my studio
from pictures I take during my travels. Each year I travel
to Maine with friends to capture on canvas the summer
light, people, scenes, and atmosphere of the days.
I bring back with me to
school a renewed excitement to
open my students’ eyes to their
world.

Art has always been a passion
of mine. With every chance I
get to create something new, I
take the opportunity to express
myself. My artwork is a wide
range of styles, mediums, tech-

art is my favorite style of painting because it is the style
where I can express myself the best. I love the bright and
vivid colors, the loose and openness of the style, and the
fun subjects that pop art allows me to play with. One of
my favorite pop art paintings was entered last year into
the Congressional Art Contest and I was happy to receive
an honorable mention award. For the past year and the
present, I have enjoyed the freedom to do all the pop art I
want in independent study. Writing my own curriculum
has opened opportunities to explore the genre and help
me find my own styles that I
