Painter’s Pyramid®
www.painterspyramid.com
Teacher: Dan DeSantis, art teacher,
Claremont Academy, Worcester,
Massachusetts
Level: High School
The Project: My ninth- through
twelfth-grade students used
Painter’s Pyramids to prop up three-dimensional projects. The pyramid
worked wonderfully and allowed
students to reach underneath their
projects with minimal shifting. They
were also able to paint all sides and
angles in one day without having to
leave their projects out several nights
to dry. This was a great advantage to
me, as it eliminated the need to leave
paints and supplies out overnight.
I was also able to use the pyramid
as an example of shape and form
when describing three-dimensional
shapes. The holes in the pyramid are
an especially convenient feature, as
it gives students a nice place to rest
brushes and not get paint all over the
table.
