Students are truly impressed with
their ability to make letters or numbers into such vibrant, lively works of
art. This lesson helps them become
aware of the communication symbols
they are learning to make in their
regular classroom.
Jasper Johns once said “I believe
that everything I do is attached to my
childhood.” My students and I want
to thank Jasper Johns for helping our
young artists see the beauty and sim-
plicity of the painted lines of their
ABCs and the numbers 1, 2, 3.
