Objectives
Students will:
• Study their local environment.
• Experiment with digital imagery and image manipulation.
• Create a balanced composition.
• Incorporate their own symbols into their creation.
• Experiment with color schemes.
• Apply water-soluble oil pastels effectively.
• Understand the art movement of Symbolism.
Materials
Any medium or paper can be used for this project. My high
school students used 18 x 24" ( 46 x 61 cm) heavy watercolor paper and water-soluble oil pastels. The beauty of this
medium is its versatility. It can be applied in a heavy opaque
method, as a watercolor technique, or with mixed media.
