Paige V. Baggett
From kindergarten to college,
students can express ideas
and feelings in a variety of
two- and three-dimensional
forms. This production experience
encourages individual creativity along with the rewards that
come from the consc ientious
application of technical and
problem-solving skills.
While experiencing
the process of collage and applying
the art elements of
shape, space, color,
and texture students
produce profiles with
personality. The result
is a collection of highly
personalized works
that say something
significant about each
student artist.
Students work with
an idea they know
the most about (
themselves), and work in a
non-threatening style
for the novice artist (collage). Collage presents a
spontaneous way
of working with
materials that are
inexpensive and easy
to obtain. Artwork
is produced that motivates teachers to value
the role of art in the
classroom and boosts
students’ confidence in
their ability to create art.
