Images from the International Folk Art Market. For more, see Snapshots on page 51. past summer, IFAA partnered with artists at Meow Wolf and students who participated in Chimera's (Meow Wolf's nonprofit community education organization) afterschool and summer programs to create four internationally inspired Dragons of the World. The dragons made their debut in the artist procession that opens the market. Reflections I have been the coordinator for the educational programs for IFAA for the past two years. Each year, the focus and direction of educational outreach changes to meet that year's IFAA strategic focus and goals. Our world is fluid and changing and organizational resources vary from year to year. My work with IFAA has been the most meaningful and impactful art effort thus far in my career. When you hold up images of people in a far corner of the world, cooking, work - ing, interacting with their families, showing where they live, helping children learn some words in their language, and then you show them the actual art that is made in that country, children make real connec - tions between their life and that of global citizens. They realize we are all more similar than different. That is the real beauty of education. Nelson Mandela knew that educa- tion was a super power—one that the world needs. Art is not limited by borders or boundaries and is provid - ing meaningful cultural and edu- cational contributions through the efforts of the IFAA. The dates for this year's market are July 13–15, 2018. We hope to see you there.
