F rom the moment we saw artist and art teacher Robyn Miller's super- green art lesson using recycled paint chips, we were in love. Her fourth-graders' subjects were fish, birds, turtles, snakes, flowers, and butterflies, all brought to life with a shoebox full of recycled paint chips from years of her home improvement projects. Students had a ball. Robyn, a mas - terful ceramic mosaic artist, applied all the teaching skills used with ceramics to achieve the desired effect with the brilliantly color-saturated paper. The tesserae were small pieces of cut paint chips, and brown cardboard gave the perfect effect of grout. She invented a fun and efficient method of teaching students how to cut the chips so it was faster than cutting them one-by-one.
