If there is one thing that I try to emphasize over and over again when introducing construction projects, it is to pay attention to detail—cut straight pieces using a ruler, use glue neatly, try not to get dirty finger marks all over the project, etc. There have been many creative projects with amazing ideas that fell apart because students didn't take time with the details. The Buzz in the Room The enthusiasm my students have when creating a piece in a manner and format that is fresh and new to them is exciting to me. Projects like this show students that there are dif - ferent ways to to create the illusion of depth in two-dimensional works. It is extremely rewarding to see the expres - sion on students' faces when they see that they accomplished an art project well, that their piece stands out, and that they presented a painting in such a way that viewers will remember.
