Along the D uring a recent trip to Peru, I had a great conversation with a local artisan. I asked him if the patterns in his work had meaning. I listened with growing awe as he explained that every color and symbol had a story to tell about the local landscape, wildlife, or his people's rich history. Little did I realize that this con- versation would open my eyes to all the other stories being told by the world around me, or that the artisan I was conversing with was a famous potter. My chance meeting was with Pablo Seminario, who has devoted his life's work to reviving traditional pre- Columbian pottery.
