C hildren are naturally attracted to and curious about animals, especially exotic, beauti- ful, and unusual animals. I wanted my fifth-grade students to gain an appreciation for learning about endangered animals and begin to understand that one of the important jobs of an artist is to help make the world a better place. The profusion of animals in mov- ies, books, and cartoons lead me to incorporate endangered animals as an artroom theme, while also serv- ing as an interdisciplinary lesson.
