Dropping in on Impressionists teacher: Theresa McGee, Monroe Elementary, Hinsdale, Illinois Level: Grades 1–6 Review: I used Crystal Productions' Dropping in on Impressionists DVD with my first- and fifthgrade students this year. During my first-grade classes, I played the video as a curricular extension for early finishers while other students continued working on a Monetinspired art piece. I was also able to use a laptop computer to quietly play the video for a small group of fifth-grade students to help them understand Impressionism for an artist research project. Overall, Dropping in on Impressionists is a big improvement on the other videos in the Dropping in On series. While my students and I found the animation and narration a bit uninspiring, I was pleased with the clear presentation of the concepts. My students not only learned about the individual styles of several artists, but also gained a good understanding of the Impressionist art movement. Circle No. 348 on Reader's Service Card 13
