Dogwood Festival Chalk Walk The Chalk Walk is a fan-favorite among visitors to the Dogwood Arts Festival in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. The annual April event brings more than 25,000 visitors in a single da o see artwork from over 300 artists on more than 130 concrete sidewalk squares. The street painting festival draws inspiration from a sixteenth- centur talian happening and turns Knoxville's downtown sidewalks into a seemingl nfinite canvas for the region's most talented profes - sional and student artists. Founders Doug and Kath locum, along with Chalk Walk co-chair Jim Dodson, work with Dogwood Arts to bring this annual event to downtown Knoxville to educate visitors of this lost art in hopes of keeping it alive for future generations. Chalk Walk is open to the public, and novice and professional artists can appl or a space on historic Market Square to "chalk." At the conclusion of the da ong event, the winning artists are pre- sented ribbons and cash awards. To view thi ear's winning artists, visit Photos courtesy of Jim Dodson. S N A P S H O T S
